Actions aren’t being triggered in Zabbix 2.0.2

I can’t seem to trigger actions from our new Zabbix server that I am building. After finding this issue I have gone right back to the basics trying to get an alert working.
I have created a new host and all I am doing is pinging it

Created the ping item and trigger for it

    Next create a simple action

Once this is all set up I do a simple test of changing the IP of the host to an IP that doesn’t exist
I also take note of the amount of emails in the Notifications that have been sent to this user.

When Zabbix can and can't see the Host

So at this stage I know the host’s trigger is working.
    What I’m not seeing is
    • any email being sent to this user
    • email count going up in notifications
    • under the latest event seeing any Actions taking place

I don’t believe that this is an email issue as I have auto discovery emails going out to this user fine so unsure what is happening.

Any ideas where to look here and what I can test (e.g. maybe an action without an email). I’m not the best with Linux but can find my around it.

Admin / Media Types - You have your email server configured? And "Enabled" is checked?

Admin / Users - If you switch from "user groups" to "users", then select a user (like 'admin'). Then go to the "Media" tab, you have entered an email media type and entered an email address? The status is "enabled" here?

Yes email is active and working, I think the issue is that the action is not triggering as there is not record of a action taking place.

If an action took place I should see ever a red or green number under the action field, red for bad outcome, green for good

example from a bad zabbix server

            zabbix alerting not working

I have the exact same problem. Triggers and actions have been created, but I receive no email notifications. Is there maybe something wrong with my email setup?
            SMTP server:localhost
            SMTP helo :localhost
            SMTP email: [email protected]
Our company is using Google apps for our emails. Is there any special setup for Google apps to work as I am able to send an email from the zabbix server itself to my Google apps email?

I had this exact same problem and came across your thread when searching for an answer. My new thread can be found in the link below. I just wanted everyone to know that if you stumble over this thread searching for the same problem, I was able to find a solution.

The user was a regular admin and for some reason didn't have read / write access to the test group I created, even though it had it for everything else. I made the user a super admin and now I'm getting emails like I should. So go in and check your user permissions first. Make sure the user has read / write access to the group or host that you're trying to get emails from.

                Action not defined

I didn't see nothing action in the screenshot. You have to define a action to the item.
